Summer Training 2026

Summer Training 2026

4. July 2026 · Dominik Lübben

Despite some pretty iffy weather, we held this year’s summer training today. It was extra special—not just because the US is celebrating its 250th Independence Day today, but because Sensei Eric Lewrentz from Leipzig was finally back with us after a 3-year hiatus.

This time, the little ones joined us for the very first time. The Little Dragons (ages 4–6) were represented by Ariana and Noah. Together with Kirill, Sebastian, and Sam, they got a mini-lesson in ‘Kids Self-Defense’ from Sensei Eric. As you can tell, they clearly had a blast, but most importantly, they learned a ton! Robert, who usually trains our kids, also got a fresh perspective on children’s training today and walked away with some great insights.

Aside from that, today featured ‘Dirty Boxing’ with Sensei Eric and Karate self-defense with Sensei Dominik. After that, Sensei Dominik walked everyone through the ‘Seifa’ kata—a kata from the Sanchin family—and we wrapped up the session by focusing on the health and wellness aspects of martial arts. Just like Yin and Yang, it’s not always about destruction; it’s also about healing. There were facial and back massages, a long round of handshakes from Sensei Eric, and Sensei Dominik rounded things out with Shiatsu massages and a brief introduction to Reiki.

All in all, it was a huge success—and as the saying goes, once summer training is over, the countdown to the next one begins. See you all next year!
